It doesn’t have the intensity of the Isoroku or True routes, and isn’t as fun as Kenshin’s route.
Too bad her route is the weakest of the 4 (or is it five counting the KTM “route”?). Ran is a typical tsundere, but is still a very likable character, though I know a lot of people dislike her, I thought she was very cute. While they both love each other, their relationship isn’t on the best of terms right now, due to his job during the current war. Ran is Sounn (the leader of the Houjou clan)’s girlfriend. Despite this she’s my 2nd favorite girl in the series. Ai is basically just Kenshin’s serious side, but much more cynical. Kenshin is not only my favorite girl in this game, but my favorite girl in the entire series.Īi is the chief retainer and tactician for the Uesugi Clan. She LOVES food, and considers a giant Rice Ball to be a small snack. She is very emotionless and cold on the outside, but has many moé traits. She is known as the “Goddess of War” and is only rivaled by someone like Rick Addison as the best swordsman (or would it be swordswoman in her case?) in the world. Kenshin is the leader of the Uesugi Clan, which is mostly run by women. But, I guess that’s how the real world Japan was at the time. I quite like Isoroku, but I will admit, I wish she could realize that a women could be the heir. Because of her brother, Tooru’s, death, she is trying to give birth to a male that can be the heir to the Yamamoto Family. She is appears to be very cold, but has a more lady-like side to her. She is very dedicated to her job, even in the sexist environment within Ashikaga. Isoroku is an archer from the Ashikaga house. Honestly, her scenes with him in that game are some of the best things AliceSoft has ever made. I quite like Suzume, however, her scenes in Sengoku of her and Rance having fun make me sad, because of what happens to her in Quest. Suzume is a very playful girl and loves to have fun. She went to assassinate Rance on Iga’s orders, but after he survived her H, she decided to stay in Oda with him. Suzume is one of the best Kuniochi in JAPAN, if not, the best. He is a really chill guy, and thus, is also really likable. He was once a great warrior, but has become sickly in the last few years. She has a lot of bad things happen to her, which makes her a character you will feel bad for. Her introduction in this game is perfect. She is incredibly innocent, and is polite to everyone. She is absolutely adorable! Sadly, in the true route, a certain event happens to her, which made me cry. Despite being his slave, she loves him and believes him to be a good guy. He’s such a funny character, and his development from all the event of the games is just superb. He is my favorite character in the series, and one of my favorite characters ever. However, he does have a nicer side to him. Rance is incredibly perverted and only seems to think about H. The main protagonist and a brutal warrior. (Also note I wrote this section at a different time as the rest of the review, so my knowledge is more plentiful) There are so many characters in Sengoku Rance.
There are 4 routes, True, Isoroku, Kenshin, and Ran.Īnd, crazily enough, this VN actually made me cry, which is very hard to do. There are plenty of twists and turns within the story, making it a very enjoyable VN. The scenario of Sengoku Rance is actually pretty good. Meanwhile, an ancient evil power stirs from its slumber…
He and Sill ended up in Japan for a hotspring trip, upsetting the power balance of Japan, and sets the unification of its provinces in motion. Rance, after saving the nation of Zeth from destruction, ran away so he won’t have to marry the princess. Sengoku Rance picks up where Rance 6 left off. The story takes place during the 4th Sengoku (warring states) era of Japan, an area of the Rance World which parodies medieval real-world Japan. Today, I’ll be reviewing Sengoku Rance by Alice Soft. Time to talk about a Visual Novel with actual gameplay.
